Cape Chignecto Provincial Park in Advocate will host a 2008 Parks are for People event on Saturday, August 9th.
Join a Fundy Geological Museum interpreter for a walking tour of Spicer’s Cove. Walk through a coal age fossil forest, see volcanic flows, igneous dykes, raised beaches, sea stacks, seals and sea ducks. Participants will depart the Fundy Geological Museum in Parrsboro at 9:45 a.m. or they can meet the group at the Red Rocks entrance to the Park at 10:30 a.m. for the approximately 30 minute drive to Spicer’s Cove. Participants must provide their own transportation.
Wear sturdy walking shoes, layered clothing, a hat, sunscreen, and bring cool drinks and snacks. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.

A number of healthy, active, and fun outdoor events are being held in provincial parks and special places throughout Cumberland County as part of the 2008 Parks are for People program.
Join a Fundy Geological Museum Interpreter on Saturday, July 12th for a walking tour of Spicer’s Cove at Cape Chignecto Provincial Park in Advocate Harbour. Walk through a coal age fossil forest, see volcanic flows, dykes, raised beaches, sea stacks, seals and sea ducks. Participants can depart from the Fundy Geological Museum in Parrsboro at 10 a.m. or meet at the Red Rocks entrance to the park at 11 a.m. for the drive to Spicer’s Cove. Parks are for People is a cooperative effort by government agencies, recreation clubs, community organizations, and interested individuals. It is coordinated by the Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources and sponsored by a number of individuals and organizations, including the Fundy Geological Museum and CREDA.
