Broadband for Rural Nova Scotia, in partnership with the Department of Economic and Rural Development's Community and Rural Development (CaRD) division, and the Atlantic Canada Internet Marketing Association (ACIMA) are launching a series of Internet Marketing Workshops for Small Business across Nova Scotia during the month of October. Scheduled for Small Business Week (October 19-23), these seminars will be held in four regions of the province, including one in Amherst.

This one-day, hands-on seminar will take place on Wednesday, October 21st from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Wandlyn Inn in West Amherst. The seminar will show businesses just how to use Internet marketing methods to succeed online today and will provide both group learning as well as expert one-on-one advice. Each of the six sessions throughout the day will use simple, practical, real-life examples from other small businesses that are winning new customers every day online.

The seminars will be led by four veterans of the industry, selected for having extensive industry experience, strong communication skills, and a familiarity with the online and marketing challenges of small and mid-sized businesses. Workshop topics include: making a bad website good; social media for small business; winning new customers with search marketing; tactics, tools and tricks; email marketing from start to finish; and live website reviews. Throughout the day, attendees will be able to sign up for free, private one-on-one consulting about their own website or Internet marketing plans.

Workshop participants can register for the seminars online at www.internetseminars.ca, or by telephone at (902) 424-0183.

Tourism related businesses looking to reach their full potential are encouraged to register for a free tourism workshop scheduled for Thursday, November 5th from 9:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Joggins Fossil Cliffs UNESCO World Heritage Site. This workshop will focus on positioning for tourism marketing and offer insider tips for connecting visitors to experiences. Sessions will be conducted by Melanie Cookson Carter, Operations Coordinator at the Joggins Fossil Institute and Terri McCulloch, Manager, Bay of Fundy Tourism Partnership.

This workshop will be beneficial to small business owner/operators, hotels, restaurants, museums, development agencies, community groups and other industry partners in both the Fundy and Northumberland Regions of Cumberland County. The workshop is being sponsored by CREDA and the Fundy Shore Tourism Destination Area Committee and lunch is included.
